Our experts, MDEDC's chief economist Patty Silverstein and chief investment strategist for LPL Financial John Lynch, suggest a return to the traditional drivers that propel economic cycles and the forces that have historically supported economic and market growth.

Patricia Silverstein is the president of Development Research Partners, a Jefferson County, Colorado–based real estate analysis and economic development research company founded in 1994. Ms. Silverstein’s expertise is in economic research and economic development, including industry cluster studies and strategic economic development planning. She has extensive experience in preparing economic impact and fiscal impact analysis for community development purposes. In addition, she serves as the consulting chief economist for the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. and the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. In these roles, she compiles, interprets, and forecasts economic and demographic data for the Denver metropolitan area and performs in-depth research on issues and proposed developments impacting the region.
Ms. Silverstein received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Ms. Silverstein is active in a number of business and professional organizations, including chair of the manufacturing committee of the University of Colorado Business Economic Outlook Forum, and member of the Governor’s Revenue Estimating Advisory Committee, the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), the Economic Development Council of Colorado, and the Denver Association of Business Economists.

Chief Investment Strategist
John Lynch is executive vice president and chief investment strategist for LPL Financial. He leads the market and economic analysis for LPL's Research team and is responsible for the firm's strategic and tactical investment advice.
Mr. Lynch came to LPL with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining LPL in 2017, Mr. Lynch served as senior vice president and chief investment officer for the Mid-Atlantic region of Wells Fargo Private Bank, where his responsibilities included economic and market analysis, investment strategy, and portfolio management.
Previously, Mr. Lynch held roles that included chief equity strategist with Wells Fargo Asset Management and chief market analyst for Wachovia and Evergreen Investments. Earlier in his career, he honed his investment skills while working in New York in the securities industry, focusing on equity strategy and portfolio management.
Mr. Lynch has been featured in various media outlets, including CNBC, Bloomberg News, Barron's Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.
He holds a BA from Villanova University and a MBA in Finance degree from The College of William and Mary.
