Branch Manager - Steamboat Springs
Meet Michelle House. Michelle is the Branch Manager at Vectra Bank’s Steamboat Springs branch. She is celebrating her 25th anniversary with Vectra Bank this month!
When she first moved to Steamboat Springs, Michelle got a job at the front desk of a property management company. She quickly learned that she was on call pretty much 24/7 and wanted more stable hours. She answered an ad in the paper for a Teller position at Vectra. Seeing that Michelle had no banking experience, the Market President she was interviewing with asked her what she thought would make her a good Teller. Michelle answered “well I can count money!” The Market President laughed, Michelle got the job, and the rest is history! She has worked in a variety of roles since then in both Steamboat Springs and Grand Junction, serving as Branch Manager since 2004.
What do you love about working at Vectra?
The company feels like family. I enjoy coming to work every day and seeing my coworkers.
What sets you apart from others?
There really is no one thing that I can pinpoint that sets me apart. I think it is the familiarity of living in a small community. I am a long-time employee that people recognize, and I volunteer and have served on various boards. I like being a familiar face, and we have customers who have been banking with Vectra for longer than I have been working here.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
When I’m not volunteering with local organizations like United Way and the Lions Club, I enjoy relaxing at home. I like to read, go shopping, and spend time in my yard. I also enjoy driving to the Denver area for a weekend getaway.
If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
I would like to be able to teleport, and when I get where I want to go, have the convenience of being ready to go. For example, being able to teleport to the top of the mountain and be equipped to ski down without having to worry about making sure I have skis, snow gear, etc.
